Space Rocks

Space Rocks is a casual game intended for all ages.

You are flying a ship in space. Your story begins by shooting random rocks that appear from the edge of the screen. If a rock hits you, then you lose a ship. You have 3 ships to start.

For those gamers who had the joy, decades ago, playing Asteroids at the arcade, this will bring back those memories. This newer and better rendition allows you to enjoy that feeling again, and be challenged in newer and better ways.

For those who have never played a game like this, no worries, it starts out really easy :)

With just two fingers on your left hand to aim your ship, and two fingers on your right hand to fire bullets and thrust your ship, this is an easy game to learn.

J to fire a bullet

K to thrust the ship

F to rotate the ship clockwise

D to rotate the ship counterclockwise

S to toggle the sound

Q to quit

Esc or P pauses the game.

New features are in the works, and will be included in the next versions.

Version 1 was mainly focusing on the game mechanics.

Version 2 has real rock shapes and some other improvements.

In addition to the DF JK keys shown on the launch screen, the Spacebar key was added in last minute. Each ship gets 1 shield when the spacebar is pressed.

Gray rocks are worth 1 point. Brown rocks are worth 2 points.

There are 3 bonuses that appear from level 3 on. You can hit them with a bullet, or pick them up by touching them. They are worth more if you pick them up.

The 4th bonus appears from level 10 on. It must be picked up.

If you collect all 4 types of bonuses, you upgrade your ship!

Using the spacebar shield comes with a caveat: if you have already collected the shield bonus, then using your spacebar shield takes that one away, and you'll have to collect it again towards getting an upgraded ship.
